Welcome to,
website about history
in San Luis Obispo County, California,
references and information
students, tourists, and residents.

San Luis Obispo County, as one old-timer puts it, "has history coming out of the bushes."  The events, disasters, achievements, and tragedies which have marked the state of California, have left parallel traces in this County.  With a rich history of native and immigrant cultures, a coastal location, a royal highway, two missions, and two railroads, this area has been constantly exposed to and changed by both the best and the worst in California history.  Use the menu at left to learn more about history on this very beautiful part of California's Central Coast.
